Crypto Payment Statistics: Monthly NanoGPT Merchant Data

Aug 1, 2026
Crypto Payment Statistics: Monthly NanoGPT Merchant Data

NanoGPT publishes monthly cryptocurrency payment statistics from real merchant deposits. These reports track which coins people actually use when paying for AI usage, not which coins have the highest market cap or the loudest marketing.

This archive is the central place for the series. Each monthly report includes the payment distribution for that month, major changes from the previous month, and notes on coins that are gaining or losing practical merchant usage.

Latest Report

The latest monthly report is July 2026 Crypto Payment Statistics: Bitcoin and Stablecoins Gain.

In July 2026, Monero stayed first at 36.42%, Bitcoin plus Lightning reached 22.73%, and USDT plus USDC reached 18.22% combined.

The latest longer-form review is 2026 Mid-Year Crypto Payment Statistics, comparing the first half of 2026 with the full 2025 review.

What This Data Shows

The series is useful for merchants deciding which crypto payment methods to support. It has consistently shown that real payment behavior can look very different from market-cap rankings.

Across the series:

  • Monero (XMR) became the strongest crypto payment method on NanoGPT by volume.
  • Nano (XNO) remained unusually strong for a coin with a smaller market cap, especially because instant and fee-free payments work well for small AI deposits.
  • Bitcoin (BTC) and Lightning became more important over time, especially as a combined payment category.
  • Stablecoins such as USDC and USDT became a meaningful middle category.
  • Smaller payment-focused coins such as Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Dash, Zcash, and others moved in and out of the middle of the table depending on the month.

We keep publishing these reports because real merchant payment data is rare. If you are deciding which cryptocurrency rails to integrate, the monthly reports give a practical view of which coins users actually choose when they need to pay.
